Due to low viscosity in the liquid state, grouting with acrylate gels is versatilely used for sealing soil and structure. Acrylate gel is characterized by a high elongation at break, high mechanical stability and its rubber-elastic behavior.
Acrylate gel is therefore used for veil, surface or crack injections, compression of injection hoses, subsequent horizontal barriers in masonry or for soil stabilization. The aim of acrylic grouting is to reduce or prevent the transport of water through the capillaries and their absorbency. The water-repellent barrier effect occurs after the material’s gelation.
The processing of acrylate gels places particularly high demands on the equipment technology. On one hand it calls for highly chemical-resistant equipment technology, on the other hand it involves chemical suspensions, which consist of several basic components. Great care must be taken to ensure that the gel phase is not initiated unintentionally by premixing too early.
Efficient through the use of the latest technology
Together with our partners and Renesco – department Marti Geotechnik, we designed mobile injection units specially tailored to the requirements of planning and construction operations.
In order to meet the high demands for injection technology with regard to the use of acrylate gels, the latest technologies in the field of measurement and control technology as well as information technology are used for this project.
This includes the use of special chemical-resistant sensors from the process industry, semi-automatic mixing systems and automatically controlled injection pumps. Both electrically operated hydraulic pumps and pneumatic pumps can be used. The injection pumps are automatically controlled. The measured data is transmitted to eguana SCALES in real time. eguana SCALES serves as a central platform for data analysis and evaluation. The entire data is available at any time via internet, thus ensuring efficient quality control.
Mobile grouting units – from sensors to real-time data management
The sensors used are measuring instruments from the process and pharmaceutical industry. Their special ceramic lining is highly resistant to chemicals. They convince not only by their durability but also by high accuracy and measuring resolution.
The injection pumps are controlled by specially adapted control units and the injection data acquisition exges. I.D.E. It is a unique system for pump control and injection data acquisition, extended for acrylic injections. Special algorithms allow automatic control of the injection process.
To ensure efficient operation even with larger absorption and low staffing, we have developed a semi-automatic mixing unit for acrylate gels. This way the pumps are continuously provided with injection material even in constant running, thus ensuring the requisite mixing quality and relieving the staff to a large extent concerning material reprocessing.
The recorded data are then directly transmitted to eguana SCALES via Wifi/GSM/LTE for analyzation and evaluation.
In order to be able to guarantee a high degree of deployment and optimum service, the consistent use of state-of-the-art technologies enables remote access from control to process visualization to data management. This makes immediate support and quickest possible resumption of production possible if a problem should occur.
How we at eguana handle data management in relation to these specific project requirements and which points we pay particular attention to will be revealed in one of our upcoming posts. Swing by – it’s worth it!
